A community of friends bound by a common love of historical architecture in Middletown, Ohio.
Among the tree lined streets and sidewalks that are perfect for leisurely strolls, a group of neighbors rallied together to protect a beautiful piece of Middletown. The area now known as the Highlands Historic District began as the vision of Charles and Simon Goldman who worked to create the picturesque subdivision called The Highlands. Charles Goldman used the slogan “Watch Middletown Grow” and what better place to do that than the Highlands. After the Hook Mansion was completed it became the feature in ads offering good building sites and boasting that the Highlands was “the healthiest spot in Middletown” with “an abundance of light, good air and drainage.” As the ads said “Get the elevation, build your home on The Highlands.”
